Administrative Sanction on Domestic Industrial Engine Certification by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT)

On January 29, 2024, Toyota Industries Corporation reported to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and other Japanese regulatory authorities regarding the violation of domestic laws and regulations in domestic engine certification, and then received on-site inspections from MLIT to confirm the facts of the violations. As a result, today, MLIT notified the Company of its decision to impose administrative sanction of revoking the Type Approval for three models of engines for industrial vehicles. At the same time, the Company received a correction order urging to make fundamental changes to our system to prevent misconduct from occurring.

The Company takes the administrative sanction from MLIT very seriously and sincerely regrets any violations of domestic laws and regulations in domestic engine certification. The Company will compile measures to prevent recurrence based on the points raised and the recommendations of the Special Investigation Committee within the next month and submit them to MLIT.

The Company sincerely apologizes again to our customers, dealers, suppliers, and all other concerned parties for the significant inconvenience. The Company will take a step back and make company-wide efforts to prevent the recurrence of the circumstances that have led to MLIT's administrative sanction and ensure compliance with domestic laws and regulations once again.
